As a result of a HEF grant, students studying historical fiction at Baldwin and Riley Street Middle Schools were able to meet an author via Skype last spring. Elizabeth Harper, author and HHS grad, collaborated with Franklin J. Macon to write a memoir of Frank’s life. Students were able to hear about WWII through the eyes of someone who lived it and hear about how Frank overcame dyslexia and fulfilled his dream of becoming a pilot.
